GONE FISHIN' WITH ANDY
the 15th anniversary internet re-issue
Gone Fishin' with Andy issued in
1994 was the 4th homemade cassette only "album" produced by (planet)
Andy Turits. Approximately 100 copies were personally made and distributed
all over the world by Andy. The songs were recorded in Andy's home studio
on Willow Avenue in Hoboken, NJ between 1992 and 1994 using an Ensonic EPS
performance sampling keyboard for the basic tracks. These tracks were then
recorded as a stereo mix onto a Fostex R8 reel to reel tape recorder where
guitars, vocals and everything else were added. The R8 tapes were then mixed
to a Tascam DA20 Dat tape recorder through a Tangent 802A mixing board.
To assemble the album master the Dat masters were compiled to 1" Sony
professional reel to reel videotape and a Sony BVH-2000 controlled by CMX
3600 edit controller. The resulting 1" stereo album master was recorded
to a Dat tape which became the duplication master. The original artwork
was designed by Lyndon Lorenz who came through with a copy of the original
art including the lunchbox stickers. Thanks also to David Decampo who archived
miscellaneous working cassettes that I had shared with him to digital format
and thus we are able to include the original version of "People Who
Think" (recorded before the version on "A Fresh Bunch of Andy").
The "live from the Snowgoose" bonus tracks originally appearing
on a DAT master and the music videos from a D2 video master would not appear
here were it not for the assistance of Michael ("I've got people")
Thomson and his people.

To celebrate the Gone Fishin'

episode #36 of The
Green Light District podcast. "Elvis
On My Fire Escape", "Alien Technology Reverse
Engineered" and other songs including
a duet with Donna Smera on "Baby Ride Easy" were performed live
in the studio. Check out Pop
Culture Guru Dan Houle and his popstitutes straight from NYC in their semi bi-weekly pop culture dissection
and discussion. Thanks you guys! The
